The article is a review of the collection of articles by Petro Balei entitled «A voice from the diaspora to Ukraine». Mykola Riabchuk notes that this work is dedicated to a polemic with Ukrainian national democrats and Ukrainian intelligentsia regarding approaches to politics in Ukraine. In contrast, the collection presents the state-building monarchist concept of Viacheslav Lypynskyi.

The reviewer focuses his critical attention on following aspects of the work: the understanding of the nation as a state, the issue of legalizing the official status of the Russian language, and Petro Balei’s interpretation of postcolonial events in Ukraine.
