The material is a review by Vira Aheieva of V. Domontovych’s works Doctor Seraficus and Without Ground, first published in 1949 and 1942, respectively. The author outlines the figure of the writer, the particularities of his life and creative path, and provides an in-depth analysis of the protagonists in the selected publications. Both works were published in 1999 by the Kyiv-based publishing house Krytyka. According to Aheieva, these works significantly change the perception of the the classical literary canon of the twentieth century. The article outlines Domontovych’s original approach to complex issues such as worldview, self-expression, identity, sexuality, and social life.
