The material is a review by Svitlana Matviienko of Viktor Domontovych’s works A Girl with a Teddy Bear and Bolotiana Lukroza, published in 2000 by the Kyiv-based publishing house «Krytyka». The author identifies connections between the distinctive features of Domontovych’s writing and the circumstances of his life. The article outlines a number of philosophical contradictions that lie at the core of his works. By examining the historical and cultural context in which Domontovych’s books were written, Matviienko seeks to explain the author’s way of thinking.
