Synopsis

The article provides a critical review of Jürgen Habermas’s communicative project. Special attention is given to the  influence of the philosopher’s ideas on the Ukrainian intellectual sphere. The author compares Habermas’s work The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere: An Inquiry into a Category of Bourgeois Society with the ideas of his communicative project in an attempt to deconstruct prevailing notions about the philosopher’s legacy. The critique is primarily grounded in poststructuralism and other currents of 20th-century French philosophy.
