Synopsis
Karl Marx's work "The Poverty of Philosophy" [Misère de la philosophie] constitutes a critique of the philosophical views of Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, particularly his book The System of Economic Contradictions, or The Philosophy of Poverty [Système des contradictions économiques ou Philosophie de la misère]. The original work was written in French.
The first Ukrainian translation was published in 1923 by the Ukrainian-American publishing society "Kosmos", established by members of the Communist Party of Western Ukraine. The translation was executed from the German edition by Ukrainian public and political figure, journalist Serhii Vikul. The publication also includes Marx's letter to Pavel Annenkov, translated by Vikul from Russian. The edition is accompanied by footnotes.
