The article critically analyzes the work of Volodymyr Potulnytskyi Ukrainian and World Historical Science: Reflections at the Turn of the Century, which is dedicated to the problems of Ukrainian historical science. The author exposes Potulnytskyi's hegemonic approach to historiography, his simplified interpretation of Edward Said's concepts, and his state-centric vision of history. Zaiarniuk demonstrates how, under the guise of scientific objectivity, Potulnytskyi promotes his own ideology of state nationalism, defining those who disagree as "irrationalists". The work criticizes Potulnytskyi's attempts to monopolize the right to write Ukrainian history and his inaccurate understanding of contemporary theoretical concepts. In conclusion, the author warns against the negative consequences of such an approach for the development of national historical science.
