The article examines the United States' policy toward Iraq in 2002 from an ethical and philosophical perspective. The author analyzes the Iraqi conflict through the prism of the concept of «national interest» and concludes that the motive behind American policy is the need to promote democracy in the world as a means of resolving political and social problems. According to the author, the conflict in Iraq has global significance, as it leads to a confrontation between Arabs and the Western world, which is perceived as «foreign» due to arising sense of Arab solidarity and patriotism.
