Synopsis

The article presents Volodymyr Verloka's views on the state of humanities journals in the context of Ukrainian academic publishing. The author outlines public perceptions of the humanities in Ukraine at the beginning of the 21st century, paying considerable attention to criticism and analysis of general trends in the development of periodicals. In particular, Verloka highlights the shortcomings of a number of publications and provides a detailed analysis of the activities of the publishing house «Dukh i Litera», positively distinguishing it from others. A separate aspect of the article is the actualization of the problem of insufficient demand for humanities literature in contemporary Ukrainian society.
