The article is a review of four works written by Ukrainians in Canada: Honey and Ashes: A Story of Family (Janice Kulyk Keefer), The Doomed Bridegroom: A Memoir (Myrna Kostash), Two Lands New Visions: Stories from Canada and Ukraine (Janice Kulyk Keefer and Solomiia Pavlychko), and The Ukrainian Wedding (Larry Warwaruk). The author positively assesses the very fact of the appearance of such publications, while expressing a number of critical remarks regarding the content and stylistic features of each of them. The article also emphasizes the importance of understanding the different sociocultural conditions and environments in which cultural and national identity is formed.
