Oleksandr Holubkov's book addresses the problem of distinguishing between scientific and utopian socialism, which arose amid the industrial and political transformations of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Using the ideas of Robert Owen, Henri de Saint-Simon, and Charles Fourier as examples, the author demonstrates how the utopians, while criticizing the bourgeois order, proposed historically unfeasible models of society that bypassed class struggle as the driving force.
