The article is based on a report delivered at the 2002 conference of the Sociological Association of Ukraine and edited by Iryna Kyrychenko. In it, the author emphasizes that 21st-century societies demonstrate a number of trends that cannot be exhaustively described by popular concepts such as “the end of history.” The main focus is on the analysis of post-industrial processes that lead to increased social isolationism. Yevhen Golovakha conducts a structural analysis of contemporary global society and proposes a model of the so-called three social statuses. The article substantiates how, in the author's opinion, these statuses differ from classes in the classical sociological sense.
