The article analyzes a number of written materials that record the friendly relations and mutual respect between two famous Ukrainian writers of the 20th century — Ostap Vyshnia and Mykola Khvylov. Despite the accusations and persecution that both suffered in the early 1930s, they continued to support each other both in their private lives and in their creative activities. The text includes, in particular, the memoirs of Mykola Kulish's daughter and an analysis of Ostap Vyshnia's last written review of Mykola Khvylovy, written during his stay in correctional labor camps. The author also draws attention to the positive characteristics that the writers exchanged in their articles and dedications to their own works.
Some physical originals of these documents were kept in the author's personal archive at the time of writing the article.
