Translation: An Age of Uncertainty In Krytyka, No. 12 (122), 2007, pp. 13-15.

The article analyzes the state of Ukrainian humanities in the context of post-Soviet transformations, with particular attention paid to the global phenomenon of the "age of translational uncertainty". The author considers translation not only as a linguistic process but also as a metaphor for cultural mediation and the transformation of knowledge. In the sphere of translating scholarly texts and forming intellectual communities, Iryna Kuchma compares the experience of post-socialist countries such as France, Russia, Hungary, and Turkey. She demonstrates that  in the historical context of the Ukrainian environment, translation becomes a critical instrument of modernization, while simultaneously generating new forms of uncertainty – institutional, methodological, and linguistic. Kuchma emphasizes that under contemporary conditions, translation requires not only technical precision but also a deep understanding of the context in which scientific and philosophical ideas acquire new meanings.
