Synopsis

The article was written after the death of Richard Rorty and serves as a kind of summation of his philosophical legacy. The author presents the philosopher’s biography from the perspective of Rorty’s formation as an intellectual and traces the evolution of his ideas. The article outlines Rorty’s key concepts: contingency, irony, and solidarity; the combination of conservatism and liberalism in his political philosophy; his view of philosophy as a literary practice; and the rehabilitation of human imagination from the dominance of faith and reason.
