Synopsis

In the work From the State to the Committee, the evolution of the Ukrainian state-building movement in the first half of the twentieth century is examined on the basis of biographical material. Particular attention is devoted to the transformation of the political strategies of the Ukrainian movement under conditions of lost statehood and the forced operation outside official institutions. The central theme of the work is the depiction of the author's adaptation of his activities to new political realities: coordination efforts and the preservation of the idea of statehood within the émigré community. The author emphasizes the significance of his own experience as an example of the transition from classical state-centered approaches to more flexible forms of political organization in the face of historical challenges.
