This article describes the awarding by the Ukrainian Free University of an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree to Canadian professor George Wilfrid Simpson for his contributions to Ukrainian civil society. In addition to describing the professor’s scholarly work, the article also provides a brief history of the Ukrainian Free University and its structure as of 1948.
