In his article, Mykhailo Nazarenko analyzes the development of post-Soviet fiction and its connection with political and ideological processes in society.
The author examines the phenomenon of Russian-language fiction, in particular the genre of alternative history and “popadantsy”, and shows how these texts reproduce imperial narratives and ideas of revanchism. Particular attention is paid to how fiction shapes perceptions of history, war, and geopolitical conflicts, often reflecting anti-Western and anti-Ukrainian motives. The article also raises the issue of the role of Ukrainian authors in the Russian-language cultural space and the influence of literature on the formation of national identity.
The author concludes that modern fiction can serve as an instrument of ideological influence and reflect broader socio-cultural transformations of post-Soviet society.
