The author reports on the publication of the first volume of Viktor Petrov's selected works by the «Suchasnist» publishing house. The edition was compiled by Yurii Shevelov. On the occasion of this publication, the author briefly outlines the chronology of reports of Petrov's death and draws attention to the conflicting assessments of his figure.
