Synopsis

The article describes the state of the Ukrainian philosophical community through an analysis of publications in "Filosofska Dumka" for 2011. Volodymyr Verloka identifies a sense of confusion within the philosophical community, which manifests itself in two aspects. First, in constant appeals to authorities as an attempt to legitimize one's own philosophizing. Second, in uncertainty regarding the role of philosophy in society and its relationship with it. In conclusion, the author emphasizes that the philosophical community lacks the courage for the necessary radical rethinking of the purpose of its own activity.
