Synopsis

The article examines the arguments of supporters of the law “On the Protection of Public Morality,” which prohibits the production, storage, and distribution of pornographic materials, and presents the author’s polemical stance against them. It is argued that pornography belongs to the symbolic world, a non-material creative space where the laws of physics and political restrictions do not apply. The author emphasizes that all art contains elements of pornography, sadism, and voyeurism and is therefore transgressive in a moral sense. Particular attention is paid to the concept of freedom of information. The author cites the United States as an example of a society where the right to information is unconditional, and contrasts this with what he sees as the paternalistic and repressive attempts of the Ukrainian establishment to control citizens’ access to information.
