Filosofska Dumka [Philosophical Thought]
The journal Filosofska Dumka [Philosophical Thought] was founded in 1969.
The founders considered it the historical heir of the journals Prapor Marxismu [The Banner of Marxism] (since 1931 Prapor Marxismu-Leninizmu [The Banner of Marxism-Leninism]), which was published in 1927-1933 by the Institute of Marxism-Leninism (since 1931 the VUAMLIN Institute of Philosophy and Natural Science, since 1933 the VUAMLIN Institute of Philosophy), and Pid Marxo-Leninskim Praporom [Under the Marxo-Leninist Banner], which was published in 1934-1936 (in 1935-1936 Pid Marxistsko-Leninskim Praporom [Under the Marxist-Leninist Banner]); since 1934, the publisher was VUAMLIN (reorganized into UAMLIN in 1935) without specifying the subdivision.
These journals were not purely philosophical.
The last version (Pid Marxistsko-Leninskim Praporom) ceased to exist in 1936. There has never been a real succession between the Editorial Boards of the FD and PM.
The permanent FD publisher is the Institute of Philosophy (Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR), founded 1946, since 1991 Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, since 1997 Hrygory Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1989-1997, journal was edited in cooperation with Institute of Sociology and called Filosofska i Sotziologitchna Dumka [Philosophical and Sociological Thought].
