Synopsis

Maryna Tkachuk’s article addresses the problem of the low quality of much of contemporary Ukrainian philosophical periodicals, caused by formal publication requirements and indifference to academic integrity. Against this background, the collection Sententiae stands out as an example of a high-quality publication that engages in dialogue with classical Early Modern philosophy and reinterprets its legacy. The article examines how Sententiae fills a gap in Ukrainian research on modern philosophy, contributes to the formation of a categorical apparatus, and fosters the formation of a professional scholarly community. The importance of publishing translations of philosophical primary sources in the journal, the presence of structured rubrication, and the involvement of humanities scholars in the discussion of current philosophical topics were noted.
