REGISTER OF PUBLISHED UKRAINIAN TRANSLATIONS OF PHILOSOPHICAL WORKS

The aim of the REGISTER OF PUBLISHED UKRAINIAN TRANSLATIONS OF PHILOSOPHICAL WORKS is to present an exhaustive list of translations of philosophical texts into Ukrainian, whether made in Ukraine or abroad. The Register is realized in the form of a spreadsheet (hereinafter referred to as the Spreadsheet) published on this web page.

The columns of the Spreadsheet contain the category, and the rows contain the relevant data of the publications. An empty cell means that a certain publication^x (in the row) does not have the characteristic^y (in the column). A filled cell indicates the presence of a characteristic^y in the publication^x and names it.

Spreadsheet makes it possible to conveniently analyze the structure of a publication and the regime of working with it utilizing a set of categorical characteristics. Some categories have comments on the type of publications that this category applies to. The Spreadsheet is interactive and allows for programmatic search, filtering, etc. with the appropriate software.

The Spreadsheet columns contain the following categories: ArS, Author / editor of the original edition (in Ukrainian, translator’s version), Translation of the title, Author / editor of the original (in the original language), Title, Translator, Editor, Literary editor, See full translation, Year of writing of the original work, Year of publication of the Ukrainian translation, Type of publication: book  /  brochure, Collection chapter in a collection, journal publication: B, С, Ch, J, № of publication of translation, Original language, City, Publisher, Compilation editor / editor of the translation, collection / authors of prefaces, afterwords, additional comments, Series, Editorial board of the series  /  journal, Journal title / collection title, Volume and issue (for a journal), Pages (for chapters in monographs and journal publications), Recommendation for publication, Reviewers, Supported by, Awards, Access mode to the work, Translator's reviews  /  comments, html, Reference 3, Reference 4.

These categories are divided into those that are dependent on the type of publication and those that are independent of it.

The categories dependent on the type of publication are the main ones for understanding the publication. The central category is Publication type: book / brochure, collection, chapter in a collection, journal publication: B, С, Ch, J.

If the publication is a book / brochure, its data are given in the columns: Author (in Ukrainian, translator's version), Translation of the title, Author (in the original language), Title, Translator, Editor, Literary editor, Year of writing of the original work, Year of publication of the Ukrainian translation, Translation edition, Original language, City, Publisher, Authors of forewords, afterwords, additional comments, Series, Editorial board of the series, Recommendation for publication, Reviewers.

If the cited publication is a collection, two cases are possible: (1) the original publication was a collection that was translated into Ukrainian as a complete edition and (2) the publication is a collection of translations by different authors prepared specifically for the Ukrainian edition.

1) If the original publication was a collection that was translated into Ukrainian as a complete edition, then its data will be given in columns: Editor of the original edition (in Ukrainian, translator's version), Translation of the title, Editor of the original edition (in the original language), Title, Translator, Editor, Literary editor, Year of writing the original work, Year of publication of the Ukrainian translation, Edition of the translation, Original language, City, Publisher, Authors of prefaces, afterwords, additional comments, Series, Editorial board of the series, Recommendation for publication, Reviewers.

2) If the publication is a collection of translations by different authors prepared specifically for the Ukrainian edition, then its data will be given in columns: Author (in Ukrainian, translator's version), Author (in the original language), Title, Translator, Editor, Literary editor, Year of writing of the original work, Year of publication of the Ukrainian translation, Translation edition, Original language, City, Publisher, Collection editor / editor of the translation, collections of translations / authors of forewords, afterwords, additional comments, Series, Editorial board of the series, Recommendation for publication, Reviewers.

If the publication is a chapter in a collection, its data will be given in columns: Author (in Ukrainian, translator's version), Translation of the title, Author (in the original language), Title, Translator, Editor, Literary editor, Year of writing of the original work, Year of publication of the Ukrainian translation, No. of the translation edition, Original language, City, Publisher, Collection editor / editor of the translation, collections of translations / authors of prefaces, afterwords, additional comments, Series, Editorial board of the series, Title of the collection, Pages (for chapters in monographs and journal publications), Recommendation for publication, Reviewers.

If the publication is a journal publication, its data will be given in the columns: Author (in Ukrainian, translator's version), Translation of the title, Author (in the original language), Title, Translator, Editor, Literary editor, Year of writing of the original work, Year of publication of the Ukrainian translation, Translation edition, Original language, City, Publisher, Additional comments, Editorial board, Journal title, Volume and issue (for a journal), Pages (for chapters in monographs and journal publications), Recommendation for publication.

The independent categories are (in Spreadsheet`s order): ArS, See full translation, Supported by, Awards, Access mode of the work (html, Link 3, Link 4), Reviews / comments by the translator.

See the full translation: the cell of the edition in the corresponding row will be filled in if the edition given in the corresponding row is incomplete and the full translation was published with the participation of the same translator.

Awards – here are the awards received by those who worked on the publication.

Reviews / comments by the translator – here, if available, are the translator's reviews and published comments. This data mainly relates to journal publications.

Supported by – this section lists individuals, foundations, co-funds, projects, and other ways of supporting publications.
