The article is Vasyl Cherepanyn's response to Myroslav Popovych's controversial article “Ours and Not Ours.” In it, the author raises the issue of the transformation of the Western political context after the declaration of the so-called “war on terror,” emphasizing that as a result, the West began to lose its liberal and democratic foundations. Based on this, Cherepanyn stresses that his criticism of the West, which became the subject of controversy with Popovych, is not directed against liberal-democratic ideals as such. On the contrary, it is intended to reveal the contradictions between declared values and actual political practice. In conclusion, the author emphasizes that the modern understanding of liberalism must be correlated with the current historical and political conditions, and that the responsibility for adequately comprehending this situation rests with intellectuals.
