Synopsis

The article analyzes the content and the preconditions for the formation of the Code of Ethics of the members of the Fulbright Society of Ukraine. Developed within the context of the Bologna system of education, the Code of Ethics is aimed at regulating the organization of university-based scholarship and is grounded in the principles of intellectual integrity and intellectual freedom. According to the author, the adoption of this code is of fundamental importance, as it challenges the traditions of unification and standardization that long dominated Ukrainian higher education and science as a legacy of the intellectual culture of Soviet totalitarianism. Rechytskyi emphasizes that the potential of the Code of Ethics lies in creating conditions for the preservation of academic freedom, which had previously been subject to significant restrictions imposed by the state.
