The material is a translation of Yurko Prokhasko from Polish. The author suggests considering Eurocentrism from a positive perspective. Kołakowski emphasizes that the concept of Eurocentrism is unfairly perceived as negative. The article considers the definition of European culture and the historical and political interrelationships among civilizations. According to Kołakowski, a characteristic feature of European culture is self-criticism. The article describes the shortcomings of cultural universalism. The author examines many philosophical, anthropological, political, historical, and general cultural phenomena in order to analyze the status of European values in the modern world.
