Philosophical Dialogues

15 Titles

The journal “Philosophical Dialogues” is a scientific periodical of the H. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, published from 2009 to 2021.

The first issue was approved for publication by the Academic Council of the Institute on December 12, 2008. In total, 22 issues were published, 7 of which ((9-10)-(21-22)) are paired. In 2009, 3 issues of the journal were published, after which it was published with a frequency of 1 issue per year.

In issue 1, it is stated that the treatment of dialogue as a philosophical discourse should become a tradition for the journal. In a sense, the journal has followed this guideline throughout its existence: interviews were frequent among the journal's materials, and new issues were mostly published as a result of conferences, readings, and joint research projects, i.e., dialogic communication on a particular topic.

Most issues of the journal were dedicated to anniversaries and memorable dates. For example, Nos. 1 and 2 were published on the basis of the materials of scientific conferences on the occasion of the anniversaries of Myroslav Popovych and Serhii Krymskyi, respectively; No. 4 was published on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Volodymyr Shynkaruk; No. 5 - on the basis of the materials of philosophical readings in memory of I. V. Boychenko in 2011; No. 6 - on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Oleksandr Yatsenko's birth, No. 9-10 - on the occasion of Popovych's 85th birthday; No. 11-12, 13-14 were dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Institute (and No. 11-12 also to Popovych's 85th birthday), No. 15-16 was dedicated to Popovych's memory, and No. 17-18 - to the 100th anniversary of the NAS.

Several issues of the journal were published on the basis of the results of scientific projects. No. 8 appeared as a result of the Ukrainian-Russian research project "Logico-methodological analysis of the language of science and the problem of the presentation of knowledge", which was carried out as a result of the joint research grant competition of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Russian Foundation for Humanities - 2013-2014 (No. 03-10-12). Unlike other issues of the journal, this one was published in Russian. No. 19-20 wasthe result of the research project funded by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine grant "Socio-humanitarian factors of spatial development of Ukraine: value and semantic bases of the national strategy", Order of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ¹335 of 31.05.2009. No. 21-22 was published as part of the work of the Institute's experts on a grant from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to research laboratories/groups of young scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to conduct research on priority areas of scientific and technological development in 2020-2021 "The "Russkiy Mir" Doctrine as an Information and Cultural Strategy".

Finally, No. 3 was prepared on the basis of the results of the scientific-practical conference "Ethics and Politics: National and World Experience" held at the Institute of Philosophy in 2007. Partly in the same category is No. 7, which contains materials of the Institute's experts on the topics of tolerance and dialogue, some of which were presented as reports at the International Colloquium on the works of E. Levinas "Readings from 'Difficult Freedom'" held in Toulouse (France) in 2010.

All issues were printed in 500 copies, with the exception of No. 3 (300 copies) and No. 21-22 (100 copies).

The address of the editorial office was first indicated in No. 9-10: Kyiv, 4 Triokhsviatytelska St. (the address of the H. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which was apparently the location of the editorial office from the beginning of the journal's publication). The address of the editorial office will remain the same until the last issue inclusive.
